It was a pleasure for our safe space creation to be highlighted by our local Spectrum News!! (Interviewed by Olivia Levada)
Creating safe, multigenerational and trusting spaces for black women to gather around food, sisterhood and understanding has been nothing short of inspirational. I've had the pleasure of curating these spaces alongside some amazingly caring, powerful and multi-talented women!!
Overview: A multigenerational conversation for black women of the Bastrop, Travis and surrounding counties. This series will explore topics related to authenticity, identity, maternal wellness, mental health, and the necessity of social connectivity through sisterhood.
Objectives:
Creation of a framework for thriving black women in and around Travis and Bastrop counties
Introduction of Engagement and Empowerment activities, through an intentionally social paradigm
Group members will gain an enhanced understanding of a whole person focus to sisterhood and wellness
Inclusion of various community leaders to increase trust building
Special credit to K. LaFleur-Anders and Jennifer Dungey for their partnership!!
